This document has been developed as a part of the APS's reconciliation commitments.  The document provides an introduction to the cultural protocols associated with recognising Country, as well as guidance on how to develop and implement these protocols across APS National Office, member groups and member business.  However, the document has a broader application, and could be applied or adapted to other organisations.  It also provides some background information explaining the importance of these cultural protocols to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the meaning of commonly used terms.
